PROFILE

Shah Abbas Khan alias Sanjay Khan, known as a warm hearted, kind person with a noble soul. He is a true altruist with over-whelming concern for other people's welfare. He is ambitious, strong willed and creative. He is known for his tenacity and vision. His favourite pass time decides his work, is to dream and visualise glorious projects to see them through.

He is extremely charitable - has reserved almost three acres of prime land in Bangalore to build a general hospital with a specialise burns section, a college of commerce and a vocational training centre for destitute women.

He is a patriot and a true secular citizen. He is protagonist of national integration and communal harmony. He has shown this in his films like ABDULLAH and usually successful mega-series like THE SWORD OF TIPU SULTAN, THE GREAT MARATHA and JAI HANUMAN.

He is extremely proud of Indian civilisation and culture. He strongly feels every citizen of the country should know the nation’s history and take pride in being a good and responsible citizen of this great nation. This can only emerge if one understands its rich history and culture. Not only the ancient history but the medieval and the colonial history under the British. He would like the country to be guided by the descriptive principles as enshrined in the constitution of India- A welfare state, where people's welfare and regard should be the highest law, where each and every Indian will have a decent education, employment, the means to protect his family and the ability to contribute to the exchequer. He believes firmly that we are Indians first and Indians last.

Religion should be respected in its glory and practiced in the privacy of home and the respected places of worship. He abhors the misuse of religion and politics. Sanjay Khan comes from a well-respected family from Bangalore. Son of Sadiq Ali Khan and Bibi Fatima Begum, with five brothers and two sisters, Dilshad and Late. Khurshid. One of his brothers, Feroz Khan not only was a successful actor but had made some super hit movies like DHARMATMA and QURBANI.

He was also very close to Feroz-through childhood. He talks fondly of his brothers- Samir, Shahrukh and Akbar. Samir and Shahrukh are successful businessmen while Akbar has made the magnum opus Taj Mahal.

Sanjay Khan was very close to his father, whom he lost at the early age of only 10 years. He still remembers his father’s quotes and follows them today- punctuality, self-respect, humility and follows his father's advice to always eat less at the dining table and get up with a little hunger. "This keeps a man fit and healthy", as told to him by his late father.

He remembers asking his father a question as to why one should be punctual, to which he answered, that it was an insult to the person with whom you have come to meet. If the person is late, one should wait for 15 minutes and leave with a note. On asking the reason, he was told that if he stays longer, then it will lower his equity. These principles have guided his life. He was always a rebel against normal course of activity. He took to the university of life, read all the books of his time and felt he did not need a formal higher education. He is well read, suave, knowledgeable person who has the distinction of being highly respected in the national and international arena. A successful actor, producer, director and is a successful businessman, he dreams of a proud and strong India - a great superpower in the same category as United States, Russia and China. He feels India has great opportunity to sit on the big table. We must strive for it and not fritter it away with internal strife and petty politics.

HELICOPTER CRASH

It was 2003, he was travelling by helicopter to Balkhot in Karnataka, on request to address a political rally at Balkot. Before taking off, there was a thirty-minute delay. As the helicopter took off eventually, however, and started the journey. As it approached Balkhot, the inclement weather deteriorated.

The helicopter was about 800 feet when the tail broke off and beyond the control of the pilot spiralled to the ground this can be described as a miraculous escape from certain death. The helicopter missing high tension lines, which were nearby fell into muddy area. Persons travelling with him including the pilot were unscathed. This was indeed a miracle as this was the silly seasons of the helicopter crashes where all other 4 crashes were fatal.
