The sword of Tipu Sultan is based on the novel of same name by Bhagwan S Gidwani. It chronicles the true historical events in the life of Hadar Ali and Tipu Sultan. The novel is well regarded as historically accurate. The drama was one of the best pictured and highly popular. When the British tried to colonize India, after initial resistance they gained rapid control over large parts of India until they reached south where initially Hadar Ali then his son Tipu kept them away for decades. Tipu is regarded as a genius warrior and inventor of rockets and navy in India. His handful any was able to hold the combined forces of British east India company, the maratha and the Deccan. He faced the enemy in his last battle and was killed in Srirangapattam.
